Terrorist Bomb Instructor Blows Up Class During Demo

Terrorist Bomb Instructor Blows Up Class During Demo

Every So Often Real Life Imitates The Comics

Here’s one from the “this is so good you just can’t make this shit up” files… A suicide bomb trainer in a terrorist training camp north of Baghdad, Iraq apparently blew himself up during a demonstration killing himself and 21 other terrorists in training. Whoops! I hate when that happens. The teacher, a commander at the training camp, was conducting a class to trainee suicide bombers on using belts packed with explosives when he accidentally detonated the device. Seems if left to their own doings, they may just take each other out eliminating any other problems.

The incident took place at an insurgents’ camp near the town of Samarra, 60 miles north-west of Baghdad. Security forces were drawn to the area by the loud sound from the blast. 22 survivors of the explosion were arrested, some of which were badly wounded. Also discovered at the camp were seven fully prepared car bombs along with multiple suicide belts, similar to the one used by the trainer, packed with high explosives. Stores of other heavy weapons were also kept there, the officials said. The dead instructor has not yet been named, but was described as an experienced operative who specialised in training and recruitment. Ok, so well, he wasn’t so good at training anyway.

From what information can be gathered, this camp was run by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). They are an extremist group affiliated to al-Qaeda in the largely Sunni area of central Iraq. ISIS operates out of Iraq as well as over the border in neighbouring Syria and controls areas of Anbar province in western Iraq. They are linked to bomb attacks elsewhere and other fighting that has thrown Iraq deeper into sectarian violence. So let’s take a look at the scorecards… ISIS now has -750 points on the board, let’s see if they’ll get a consolation prize. Hmmm, nothing. Sorry guys, thanks for playing.

I’m Surprised This Doesn’t Happen More Often

Comically, this exact same thing happened recently in Indonesia. Unfortunately that incident only took the life of the instructor himself, and none of the students were injured. Personally, I think the story is a little more hilarious when the entire class is killed, but that’s just me. Crazy you don’t see these types of stories daily. I would sort of expect it. Doing my research I also ran across a video of a terrorist blowing himself up with an RPG. Be advised it is pretty gory. Dumb people and explosives just don’t go that well together. Sort of like oil and water, but with funnier results. Other times though, not so much…

Recent Increase In Violence

On a serious note though, the terrorists have been doing a number on Iraq, and it has seen a bit of a recent swell in violence. It is believed the group ISIS is behind a recent uptick in violence in Iraq that began last April. That was when Iraqi security forces cracked down on a Sunni protest camp where fighting killed 45 people. There doesn’t appear to be an end to the violence in site either as many Iraqi Sunnis are angered over what they perceive as mistreatment at the hands of the new Shiite-led government that took power after the U.S. invasion. Saddam Hussein’s regime favored the minority Sunnis. See when the dude you back dies and power shifts, things change… and not for the better. Shit is so fucked over there, there really isn’t any clear cut answers as to what needs to be done, and I for one am glad that shit is on the opposite side of the planet as myself.
